East Side Project

Chicago-based Mercy Housing Lakefront, the regional office of Denver-based Mercy Housing Inc., plans to construct a five-story building with 54 apartments on a vacant lot north of North and Farwell avenues on Milwaukee’s east side.

The developer is seeking affordable housing tax credits for the apartments from the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA). Mercy originally proposed a nine-story, 85-unit building for the site, but reduced the size of the proposal after neighbors complained the original proposal was too large. The building was designed by Milwaukee-based Korb Tredo Architects.
