East Side apartment project planned

Milwaukee-based Dermond Property Investments plans to build a four-story, 34-unit apartment building at the northwest corner of Pleasant and Jackson streets on Milwaukee’s East Side. The apartments will be one-bedroom and studio units.

“The project will target a mixed demographic but largely young professionals that want to live in a smaller boutique high quality building in the heart of the east side, providing for easy access to shopping, dining, entertainment, and lake/riverfronts within blocks to Brady, Water Street, North Avenue and Downer,” Dermond said in information documents with the city.

The 4,076-square-foot, 112-year-old former Joey’s Italian Restaurant building on the property will be demolished to make way for the new apartment building.
