Doyle would call lawmakers back if they can reach deal on RTAs

Gov. Jim Doyle says he’d call lawmakers back to Madison "in two seconds" if legislative leadership indicated they had the votes to move forward on legislation to create a regional transit authority for southeastern Wisconsin.
"I think one of the great pieces of work that was left undone by this Legislature was the failure to pass RTA legislation," Doyle said. "Now we have this very unusual situation where some regions of the state are going to move forward … and the area of the state that needs it the most, southeast Wisconsin, just sort of can’t get the politics of this together."
