Milwaukee-based Douglas Dynamics Inc. has purchased a car dealership site that lies just behind its northwest-side manufacturing plant.

The manufacturer and up-fitter of work truck attachments and equipment, located at 7777 N. 73rd St., recently purchased the Russ Darrow Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership site at 7676 N. 76th St., according to state records.

Douglas Dynamics bought for $2.2 million the roughly 8.9-acre site, which borders the company’s building to the west. The land and buildings are assessed assessed at roughly $2.6 million.

Company officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the acquisition.

For its part, Russ Darrow Group plans to move the existing dealership on North 76th Street to a new location at the Metro Auto Mall near the corner of Interstate 41 and Good Hope Road. Joining that dealership will be the group’s Honda dealership, which is currently located at 9301 W. Brown Deer Road.

Mike Darrow, president of Russ Darrow Group, said he expects the Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership will open at its new location on July 1. The Honda dealership will open sometime around the beginning of September.

The two new dealerships will bring the Metro Auto Mall up to seven dealerships total, four of which will be operated by Russ Darrow Group.
