Donations still needed for Hurricane Sandy relief

Learn more about:

The United Way of Greater Milwaukee’s Executive Committee recently voted to make an immediate $25,000 grant to the American Red Cross in Southeastern Wisconsin, funding which will help the organization deploy volunteers to the East Coast to help in the Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

The Red Cross has placed shelter locations and trained disaster workers on alert from Florida to Maine, has emergency response vehicles and supplies ready, and is working in close collaboration with government officials and community partners to coordinate potential response efforts.

The grant comes from United Way of Greater Milwaukee’s Urgent Need Fund, an emergency resource which enables the organization to provide critical resources to local agencies to quickly respond to urgent community needs.

The Urgent Need Fund grant awarded to the local Red Cross is in addition to the 2012-13 allocation of $787,000 from the United Way of Greater Milwaukee for local Red Cross relief efforts.

The American Red Cross in Southeastern Wisconsin serves the communities of Dodge, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha counties.
