Dollar Tree plans more Milwaukee area stores

Chesapeake, Va.-based Dollar Tree Inc. plans to add more stores in the Milwaukee area. The retailer, which prices everything in its stores at $1, recently leased 12,898 square feet of space at Oak Creek Centre in the 8500 block of South Howell Avenue in Oak Creek and 8,114 square feet of space at 1300 W. Historic Mitchell St., Milwaukee.

The Oak Creek space is part of a former Sentry store. Other tenants in the building are TJ Maxx and Petco.

The Mitchell Street space is a free-standing building that was previously occupied by Hollywood Video.

Ross Koepsel and Nick Tice of Milwaukee-based Commercial Property Associates Inc. represented Dollar Tree on the Oak Creek and Milwaukee lease deals.
Dollar Tree is one of the most active retailers in the Milwaukee area retail real estate market. The company has 4,100 stores across the country.

“We’ve probably done 40-plus stores on their behalf throughout the state,” Koepsel said. “I could easily see us doing another 10 to 15 stores in the metro Milwaukee area over the next 3 to 5 years. On a national basis they are adding 400 to 500 stores a year to their chain.”
