Diversified Insurance Solutions calling for grant applications

Diversified Insurance Solutions, headquartered in Brookfield, is seeking nonprofit applicants for its 2014 Spark Program, which will award $5,000 grants to nonprofit organizations using creativity and innovation to tackle area problems.

The insurance broker will distribute three grants to nonprofit organizations in the coming year.

The Spark Program was launched in honor of Diversified Insurance Solutions’ 30th anniversary. In 2013, the program helped make possible a new weeklong camp for foster children and gave kindergarten students from low-income families school supplies and funded classroom amenities. The program also awarded dollars to The Citizen Project, which will connect youth offenders with animals starting in January so that participants can learn about responsibility and sympathy firsthand.

“As a company, we’re extremely community minded,” said James McCormack, founder and chairman of Diversified Insurance Solutions. “So we wanted to celebrate our anniversary in a way that has an impact beyond our doors. We hope our program will spark change and positive results in the community. We’d also like it to have a ripple effect so other small and medium-sized businesses are encouraged to get involved in the community and give back in any way they can. We’re demonstrating that it doesn’t have to be a $1 million donation to make a difference.”

Tax-exempt nonprofits located in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington and Ozaukee Counties are eligible to apply for a 2014 Spark Grant. Submissions must be made by April 30 at www.diversifiedspark.com.
