Destination Kohler to host exclusive Scotch tasting

Destination Kohler will offer Scotch drinkers an exclusive opportunity to sample The Balvenie Fifty Single Malt Scotch during a May weekend event.

The Sip. Swing. Smoke. Weekend, scheduled to run Friday, May 15, through Sunday, May 17, will allow resort guests a rare chance to experience a multi-course Scotch pairings dinner with the top shelf alcohol.

The Balvenie Fifty is among the “rarest bottles of scotch in the world,” according to Jonathan Wingo, ambassador of The Balvenie Brand.

Destination Kohler, located in Kohler, Wis., is one of four venues in the United States to have received samplings of the scotch, which has been aged for 50 years in a European oak sherry headshead and features traces of oak and vanilla flavors. Last November, The Balvenie Distillery, of Banffshire, Scotland, distributed 131 bottles across the world with 15 of those designated for the United States.

During Sip. Swing. Smoke., event organizers will open bottle 53.

“We knew Destination Kohler, a brand that exudes the same level of sophistication and prestige, was the perfect partner for this momentous occasion,” Wingo said.

The Scotch pairings dinner will be held at the Forbes Four-Star Immigrant Restaurant on Saturday with appearances by Wingo and restaurant chef Matt Bauer.

Additionally, event attendees will be able to play rounds of golf at Kohler’s Whistling Straits Golf Course on Saturday.

The weekend will kick off with the Gurkha Cigar & Scotch Reception at Whistling Straits on Friday evening. The cigar-themed event will guide attendees through pairings with Gurkha Cigars and Scotch.

Destination Kohler is offering a variety of ticket options and packages for the weekend, including the Little Sip Package, which features a two-night stay at The American Club Resort Hotel, admission to the Gurkha Cigar & Scotch Reception, access to Whistling Straits for golfing, and admission to The Balvenie Fifty Scotch Dinner.
