Democrats have appointed state Rep. Tamara Grigsby and state Sen. Lena Taylor to the powerful Joint Finance Committee, giving Milwaukee lawmakers two seats on the 16-member budget committee for the upcoming two-year session.
Budget watchers had expected Dems to make sure the city of Milwaukee was represented on the committee, particularly after Milwaukee members again did not end up among the top leadership positions in the Dem caucuses.
JFC Senate Co-chair Alberta Darling (R-River Hills) will be the only other member of the committee whose district includes at least a portion of Milwaukee County.
During the current session, five lawmakers representing Milwaukee County served on the committee.
