What does your daily or weekly fitness regimen consist of?
It depends on the time of the year. The first quarter of the year I’m building my base fitness level – Endurance and core body strength. My workouts revolve around various athletic events. I typically spend eight to 16 hours a week working out. This year I’m planning on two half marathons, three or four sprint triathalons and one half Ironman triathlon in Racine in July.
What fitness clubs do you belong to, if any?
LeClub
Other than the obvious health benefits, how has being fit improved your life?
The mind-body-spirit connection is well documented. Working out regularly with friends is a great way to be healthy and balanced. It helps keep things in perspective.
How does personal fitness affect your work life?
It helps me have a higher level of focus when I’m working. I’m better rested and relaxed. In addition, It’s a great way to network for new clients.
Do you have a corporate health or wellness initiative?
No
What health/wellness organizations do you contract with, if any?
We’ve not pursued this area.
How does fitness or wellness affect your overall organization?
Well, it’s in our firm’s name. Our advisory services help companies become more fit from a business perspective.
What advice do you have for other executives interested in starting either a personal fitness plan or corporate wellness initiative?
If you’re sedentary person just get started doing something physical. For me, I need to commit to an event to really motivate me to work out with real intensity. Don’t wait for inspiration. Also, when one gets started it’s hard to establish new habits, so keep at it and keep that positive visualization of crossing the finishing line of that event.
