Court commissioner drops complaint against Taylor

State Sen. Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee) says she’s happy about the dismissal of a complaint accusing her of interacting with voters at a polling place in November 2008.
However, Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney Bruce Landgraf says his office has until April 13 to decide if it wants to ask a circuit court to hear the complaint after a court commissioner dismissed it.
Landgraf said the commissioner ruled a polling place was comprised of the interior of the building and didn’t extend to the line outside. Landgraf said there was no precedent in state law that defined a polling place, and establishing a definition in court is one factor the DA’s office will considering in deciding whether to request a circuit court hearing.
Taylor released a statement through her attorney David Halbrooks: “I am glad to have this behind me so I may turn more of my attention to my top priorities of education reform and job creation.”
