Milwaukee County Parks, in partnership with Glendale-based Sprecher Brewing Co., is introducing a “Traveling Beer Garden” this summer.
The Traveling Beer Garden will make its way to six different county parks in July and August, and will be at each park for two weeks.
“In the mid-19th Century, Milwaukee’s German immigrants brought us biergartens and Gemütlichkeit. The mobile beer garden revives this tradition with a 21st century twist,” said Parks Director John Dargle, Jr. “This mobile operation will give families throughout the county the opportunity to experience a beer garden.”
Sprecher Brewing products available will include 10 tap beers, hard root beer, hard ginger ale, specialty sodas, root beer floats, snacks, souvenir glass pints, steins and plastic boots. The souvenir cups can be reused at any of the Traveling Beer Garden stops or at the Estabrook Park or Hoyt Park facilities.
Each beer garden will be open from Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. An opening day celebration will be held at each location with free Sprecher beer and root beer while supplies last.
The first Traveling Beer Garden will be held at Root River Parkway South, at 92nd St. and College Ave., on June 4.

July 2 – July 13: Doctors Park, 1870 E. Fox Lane, Fox Point
July 16 – July 27: Red Arrow Park, 920 N. Water St.
July 30 – Aug. 10: Greene Park, 4235 S. Lipton Ave.
Aug. 13 – Aug. 24: Falk Park, 2013 W. Rawson Ave.
Two permanent beer gardens have operated in the Parks since 2012. Estabrook Park Beer Garden, developed and operated by the same people who brought Old German Beer Hall to Milwaukee, overlooks the Milwaukee River, and The Landing at Hoyt Park, operated by the Friends of Hoyt Park & Pool, offers views of the Menomonee River Parkway.
