Commercial Horizons plans Milwaukee office building development

Commercial Horizons Inc., a commercial real estate development firm with offices in Green Bay and Appleton, is working on plans to develop an office building in Milwaukee.

The firm is in a due diligence period and is considering “several sites” in Milwaukee to build an office building, said Paul Klister, co-owner of Commercial Horizons.

One of the sites is currently occupied by Babcock Auto Spring Co., an auto and truck suspension specialty firm, at 143 N. Milwaukee St. Babcock Auto Spring’s single-story, 15,337-square-foot 110-year-old building is located on the northern portion of a triangular-shaped lot bounded by North Young Street, East Erie Street and North Milwaukee Street in the city’s Historic Third Ward.

Commercial Horizons is asking the city to vacate an alley on that block to assemble the site for an office building development. The project would be built by right within existing zoning rules, said Jeff Fleming, spokesman for the Department of City Development.
Klister said the Third Ward site is just one site that his firm is considering in Milwaukee.

“We have several sites under a due diligence period,” Klister said. “We are probably three months out from making a decision of where we are going to want to go.”

Klister indicated that the office building is planned with a particular tenant in mind, but declined to provide any details about the project.

“It’s just a little premature,” he said.
