City seeks redevelopment for East Side library property

The city of Milwaukee plans to issue a request for proposals (RFP) seeking developers that are interested in redeveloping the East Library property at 1910 E. North Ave.
City officials are seeking a developer that will tear down the existing library building at the site and replace it with a 4 to 6-story mixed use building with the library on the first floor and other uses on the upper floors, said Ald. Nik Kovac. The project could be similar to the Villard Square development, which broke ground recently at 3427 W. Villard Ave. Villard Square will be a four-story building with low income apartments on the upper floors and the Villard Avenue Library on the first floor.
