Church plans to purchase historic West Allis building

Epikos Church in Milwaukee plans to purchase the former Paradise Theater building at 6229 W. Greenfield Ave. in West Allis from Paradise LLC. The church plans to remodel the building and use it as an additional worship location to its current East side location, and plans to open a 3,300-square-foot café in the building. The church also plans to have administrative offices and classrooms in the 83-year-old building.

Paradise LLC bought the building in 2010 for $30,000 from the State Bank of Chilton, which had taken the property back from Ziklag Global Investments, which defaulted on its mortgage.

The city has issued a raise or repair order for the building. The church project could eliminate that order.
