Tom Cardella, president and beer merchant at MillerCoors’ craft arm, Tenth and Blake Beer Co., plans to retire at the end of the year.
Tom Long, chief executive officer of MillerCoors, sent a note to distributor owner-principals, operating managers and senior executives last week to let them know of Cardella’s decision.
Cardella has 35 years of experience in the beer business, 27 of which were at Miller Brewing/MillerCoors. He is highly respected in the industry, Long said. He was key to the creation of Tenth and Blake, which has driven the company’s growth in the past several years.
“Tom has made significant contributions to our business over the years, from being a principal architect of Miller Lite’s notable early success in Texas, to building Miller and MillerCoors sales talent across America,” Long wrote. “In fact, many of us owe much of our success to the coaching Tom has given us over the years. And the creation of Tenth and Blake stands out as a crowning and extraordinary success.”
The company is currently searching for a replacement for Cardella.
