Concentrix, a subsidiary of California-based Synnex Corp., is planning to hire more than 170 people for positions at a newly opened call center in Milwaukee.

Aldermen from districts near the company’s offices in the Park Place office park announced a career fair event set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 7 at Northtown Church, 7000 N. 107th St., with Concentrix representatives on hand to help fill the open positions.

Alderman Jim Bohl said the positions pay $27,000 to $36,000 per year to start.

“These jobs are solid and located in a great location,” Bohl said. The center is located at 11301 W. Lake Park Drive.

Concentrix is a business solutions company that partners with global corporations in manufacturing, retail, telecom, technology, media and entertainment, banking, insurance, health care and the public sector.

A company spokesman did not immediately return calls and emails seeking additional information.

The job posting for technical customer service advisor on the company’s website says Concentrix “just opened a brand new call center in Milwaukee.” Applicants need two years of customer service experience; good writing and typing skills; a positive, energetic personality; and “complete shift flexibility.”

The post says employees “could be providing support for one of the biggest brands in the world,” adding that the company answers incoming calls from product users who need help with their devices.

“Job opportunities involving cool technology and providing trouble-shooting advice and service have often been concentrated downtown or in other locations closer to the city’s core,” said Alderman Cavalier Johnson. “Concentrix is offering those opportunities in close proximity to my constituents and to an overall large workforce base on the northwest side.”

Synnex’s latest annual report to the SEC says Concentrix revenue is “generally tied to our clients’ products and services and how they are received in the marketplace.”

“Any shift in business or size of the market for our customers’ products, any failure of technology or failure of acceptance of our customers’ products in the market may impact our business. The employee turnover rate in this business and the risk of losing experienced employees is high,” the filing says.

The company had 90 delivery centers and administrative facilities at the end of 2015 in North and South America, Asia-Pacific and Europe, with delivery centers concentrated in India and the Philippines.

The filing also says the Concentrix business is subject to dynamic changes in its business model and intense competition. In addition, the filing indicates its revenue can fluctuate based on provisions in many of its contracts.

“For example, many of our contracts may be terminated with a short amount of notice, and to the extent our customers terminate these contracts, we could experience unexpected fluctuations in our revenue and operating results from period to period,” the filing says.
