C-K to present mini film festival on Gallery Night

Cramer-Krasselt, a Chicago-based advertising agency that recently moved to a new office space in Milwaukee’s Third Ward, 246 E. Chicago St., will open its doors on Gallery Night for a local mini film festival.

"We wanted C-K to become a part of the creative fabric here in the Third Ward," said Lucian McAfee, creative manager in C-K’s Milwaukee office. "Gallery night is a pretty key part of that and so we began sorting out different ways we could contribute to the art scene of Milwaukee."

After meeting with individuals from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, the company decided it could fill a void with a time-based media gallery that features local filmmakers, students and artists.

"This was something we decided we could do, because we already have a ton of flat screen TVs and DVD players for our own use as a company," said Timm Gable associate producer at C-K. "We have a great space here and decided that opening our doors for Gallery Night seemed like the perfect idea."

C-K put out a call for entries and received more than 60 potential films from various local filmmakers. A group of C-K employees selected 19 films from 17 different filmmakers that range from animated and documentaries to short films.

"We had very loose criteria for the entries. They pretty much just had to be local productions that were under 15 minutes in length," Gable said.

According to McAfee, the films were selected based on what would be enjoyable for the Gallery Night audience.

"The 19 films we have chosen show a wide array of talent and composition," McAfee said. "They range any where from catchy music videos, to thesis statements, to animations, to thesis explorations from some of the MIAD student base."

Gallery Night at C-K will run from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan 16. The films will be shown throughout different rooms in the C-K office and movie-themed snacks will be available free of charge to visitors.

The C-K office location also features an array of two-dimensional art work from local artists that will also be on display.

Local film makers who will be featured at the event include:

Carlo Besasie – "The Cherry Tree."
Tim Hansen – "I Tell No Lies."

Theodore Brusubardis – "CD;" "Furnace;" writer Sam Macon – "Shut Ins."

Shawn Monaghan – "Afghan Diaries."
Marc Tasman – "East Side Dregs."

Lisa Gildehaus – "Kill It And Cook It With Larry."

L.C.Dubec – "T.V."
Jordan Hansen – "Crown of Tin."
