C.G. Schmidt will manage hospice renovation

Milwaukee-based C.G. Schmidt Inc. has been awarded construction management services for the $1 million renovation of Horizon Home Care and Hospice’s inpatient hospice unit at Columbia St. Mary’s–Ozaukee.

The renovation includes updates to the approximately 13,000 square feet of space that Horizon occupies within the hospital, including; expansion of patient rooms; remodel of the entry sequence; and a new lounge and family space.

Once completed, the space will be renamed the Lawlis Family Hospice, honoring the donors who are making the renovation possible. Construction will begin late February and is scheduled to be completed by mid-April.

Mark Lillesand, managing director at C.G. Schmidt, said, “Hospice is a beneficial type of care for many people at the end of life and has a significant impact on individuals and their families. We are happy to be part of a project that makes end of life care a better and more comfortable experience for Horizon’s patients and their loved ones.”
