What does your daily or weekly fitness regime consist of?
"Run 2x per week during tax season and 4x per week the rest of the year. Similar schedule for weight training. I generally shoot for high impact in a short time."

Other than the obvious health benefits, how has being fit improved your life?
"It gives me few restrictions on any activity I may want to try (other than the usual restriction of lack of ability). It also makes me more willing to do physical activities with my kids and neighborhood kids to hopefully teach them healthy habits. Lastly, it can be good for party tricks, depending on the party."

How does personal fitness affect your work life?
"It keeps my energy level high and affords me the ability to occasionally enjoy some of the less healthy office and business lunches without having to worry about adding to the spare tire."

Do you have a corporate health or wellness initiative?
"Yes."

How does fitness or wellness affect your overall organization?
"Our firm sponsors teams for a number of charity walk/runs and bike rides, which gives all of us opportunities to get into different types of exercise. It also provides a forum for us to know more about each other than the boring lives of accountants. We have started the process to involve outside trainers, but have not had enough time to see company-wide results."

What advice do you have for other executives interested in starting either a personal fitness plan or corporate wellness initiative?
"For personal fitness plans, I recommend something that requires little preparation and time commitment because it is easy to avoid things that take "too much" time. For corporate wellness, we have found it helps to involve outside advisors who have more familiarity with individual health and who are able to effectively coach many different people."
