The event, called “Shoot Down Cancer,” will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18 and is being put on in partnership with Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin and the American Cancer Society.

In addition to the opportunity to shoot hoops with Kidd, the event will feature other “family-friendly activities and giveaways,” accoding to a Bucks statement released earlier this week. The first 1,000 fans to attend the event will also get a free “Shoot Down Cancer” T-shirt.

“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with our new partners at Froedtert & MCW to support this critical cause,” Bucks president Peter Feigin. “The American Cancer Society does fantastic work in the fight against this terrible disease, but they can’t do it alone. We look forward to welcoming thousands of fans to the Bucks court to give their best shot in the battle against cancer.”

Feigin, Kidd’s wife, Porschla, and Froedtert Health president and chief executive officer Cathy Jacobson will be honorary chairs of the event. The three will donate $1 for each fan who attends, $5 for each free throw made and $25 each 3-pointer made up to $20,000 to the American Cancer Society.

The participating organizations are seeking additional sponsors to make separate or matching donations to the cause and encouraged those interested to contact Amy Rohrer of the American Cancer Society at amy.rohrer@cancer.org or (608) 886-0143.

Fans interested in attending should enter the Bradley Center through the Kohl’s Gate at the corner of North Fifth Street and West Highland Avenue.
