Taylor to succeed Brideau as president of Columbia St. Mary’s
Ascension Health and Columbia St. Mary’s Health System recently announced that Mark Taylor has been named president and chief executive officer of Columbia St. Mary’s Health System in Milwaukee, succeeding Leo Brideau, who has accepted a senior executive position with Ascension Health.
Taylor will assume his new responsibilities on Feb. 15.
Taylor comes to Columbia St. Mary’s Health System from Genesys Health System in Grand Blanc, Mich., where he served as president and CEO since March of 2007. Genesys Health System is also a member of Ascension Health. Under Taylor’s leadership, Genesys established a 25-year vision for the future; achieved a substantial financial turnaround; was named one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals with clinical excellence among the top one percent in the nation; and, was recognized for creating two of the top 12 leading practices throughout all of Ascension Health – co-management companies with physicians and a revolutionary new population-based care model called Genesys HealthWorks.
In addition to his service at Genesys Health System, Taylor brings more than 35 years of health care leadership experience to Columbia St. Mary’s Health System, including serving as president and CEO at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, a hospital in the St. John Providence Health System, which is also a member of Ascension Health.
At the helm of Columbia St. Mary’s Health System, Taylor will oversee a four-hospital health care system with annual revenues of $750 million.

Brideau has accepted a newly created senior executive position with Ascension Health. More details about his new position will be announced in the near future. Brideau has served as president and CEO of Columbia St. Mary’s Health System since August 2001. He has served as Ascension Health’s Wisconsin/Missouri Ministry Market Leader since October 2007. During his tenure, Brideau successfully brought together two hospital campuses, which were approximately one mile apart, into one new, state-of-the-art facility to better serve the community.

Doyle takes job at Foley & Lardner
Foley & Lardner LLP has announced that former Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle will join Wisconsin’s largest law firm, providing expertise to its Wisconsin and national clients.

A Harvard-educated lawyer, Doyle is expected to provide strategic advice and counsel to Foley’s teams of attorneys who serve a wide variety of clients through its offices in Wisconsin, the U.S., and internationally. He is expected to work out of Foley’s Wisconsin offices.
In addition to his work with Foley, Doyle will work with national and local foundations, corporate and non-profit boards and other projects that have been important to him throughout his 20 years in public service.

Doyle served as the 44th governor of the state of Wisconsin, in office from 2003-2011. Prior to his election as governor, Doyle served three terms as Wisconsin attorney general, as Dane County district attorney and as a lawyer in private practice. Doyle and his wife, Jessica, spent several years providing education and legal service in the Peace Corps in Tunisia and on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona.
Kellner and Lubar families honored with Woodrow Wilson awards
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars of the Smithsonian Institution have selected Ted Kellner, executive chairman and chief executive officer of Milwaukee-based Fiduciary Management, Inc., and his wife Mary to receive the Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service. The Center has also selected Sheldon Lubar, chairman of Lubar & Co., and his family to receive the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship. Awardees will be recognized at a dinner on May 17 at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Allan “Bud” Selig, Commissioner of Major League Baseball and a recipient of the Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service in 2008, and Timothy Sullivan, president and CEO of Bucyrus International, will serve as dinner co-chairs of the event.
“It is a great privilege for the Board of Trustees and the entire Woodrow Wilson Center to honor (the Kellner and the Lubar families’) accomplishments, particularly in Milwaukee, among their closest peers and many admirers,” said Lee H. Hamilton, president emeritus of the Woodrow Wilson Center.
The Woodrow Wilson Awards recognize leaders in government, business, the arts and science, and beyond who have made significant and lasting contributions to society through their careers, civic leadership, and philanthropy.
The Kellners are long time supporters of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, the Greater Milwaukee Committee, the Next Door Foundation, the United Performing Arts Fund, United Way, and the YMCA. They established a family foundation to help provide college scholarships to graduating low income Milwaukee students as well as other educational programs.
Sheldon Lubar has served on the board and as chair of the UW System Board of Regents and UW Milwaukee Business School, which was renamed UW-Milwaukee Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business in recognition of his many years of support and service. His wife, Marianne, is actively involved in Wisconsin’s educational and cultural institutions, including The Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee Public Library, and the Florentine Opera Company, among others. The Lubars’ children, David, Susan, Joan, and Kris, continue the family legacy of service by supporting organizations such as the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.

The Novo Group promotes Lu to CEO
The Novo Group announced that Cindy Lu has been promoted to president and chief executive officer.
Lu previously served as president and chief operating officer of the Wauwatosa-based managed recruitment outsourcing company, which also has an office in downtown Chicago.
The promotion coincides with growing optimism about the firm’s potential in 2011 and beyond.
The Novo Group has expanded its recruiting team by 10 recruiters and one salesperson in the last two months. The company said more than half of its clients’ open positions are new vs. replacements.
“That’s a healthy sign. Our clients aren’t simply replacing employees who have left, they’re looking for net new talent to grow their business and execute on new initiatives,” Lu said. “It’s a testament to our business model, our clients, and our employees that we’ve weathered the ups and downs of the economy during the past two years, hiring more than 650 professionals for our clients and maintaining an attractive cost of less than half of traditional search firm options.”
Lu helped co-found the firm in 2003 with Mike Harris, who is now the firm’s chairman.
“Cindy has done a remarkable job of leading this organization with confidence – she believes in her team and the business and hasn’t been afraid to make the tough decisions when needed,” Harris said.
Harris served as the firm’s CEO from 2003 until 2008, when Novo hired Jim Long to take over as CEO. Long helped shepherd the company to its highest revenue levels in 2008. Once the economy slowed, Long and Novo’s board reached a decision to slow the growth plan, and he became a client and partner.
As 2011 unfolds, Lu and the board expect a 24-percent increase in the company’s sales.
