*Thursday, Aug. 8, through Sunday, Aug. 11, the Wisconsin State Fair continues with fried food, live music, agricultural education exhibits, showmanship competitions and more. Upcoming highlights include a live performance by teen pop star Austin Mahone on Friday, Aug. 9, and a separate performance by country music star Miranda Lambert on Sunday, Aug. 11 at the State Fair Main Stage. The fair is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday, 8 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. General admission costs $10 for adults age 12 and older, $7 for seniors age 60 and older, $7 for military personnel and veterans with ID, and $6 for kids between ages 6 and 11. Kids age five and under get in free. The fair is based at Wisconsin State Fair Park, located at 640 S. 84th St. in West Allis. *Thursday, Aug. 8, Jazz in the Park will feature live music at Milwaukee’s Cathedral Square Park, located on East Wells Street and North Jackson Street. The weekly summer music event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a happy hour starting at 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to purchase food and beverages from area vendors onsite. *Tuesday, Aug. 13, the Milwaukee Press Club will present a Newsmaker Luncheon featuring guest Rev. James Connell, who helped found the Whistleblowers. The organization, comprised of mainly priests and nuns, pushes the Catholic Church to take a stronger stand against child sexual abuse in the church. At the luncheon, a panel of Milwaukee journalists will interview Connell about his work with the Catholic Church. The event, part of the Newsmaker Luncheon series, is open to the public and will run from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Newsroom Pub, located at 137 E. Wells St. in downtown Milwaukee. *Wednesday, Aug. 14, Live @ The Lakefront will feature Dublin native Finbar MacCarthy, an Irish and rock musician who brings comedy to every performance. MacCarthy is based in South Caroline but previously lived in Saukville, Wis. Live @ The Lakefront is a free weekly summer music event that runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the outdoor Rotary Amphitheater at Discovery World, located at 500 N. Harbor Dr. in Milwaukee. Seating is based on first come, first served. The concert takes places rain or shine with a backup location in Discover World’s indoor Promenade. Food and beverages provided by Bartolotta’s restaurant group will be available onsite. BizTimes Media serves as an in-kind sponsor of Live @ The Lakefront. *Saturday, Aug. 17, Mayfair Mall will host a free Back to School Kids Fest featuring arts and crafts activities, live entertainment and games and prizes. The event is tailored toward kids ages 2 to 12 and their families with activities presented by Mayfair retailers. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The fest will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Center Court at Mayfair Mall, located at 2500 N. Mayfair Rd. in Milwaukee. For more information, visit www.mayfairmall.com/events.

*Friday, Aug. 23, the Waukesha County Business Alliance and Foundations Bank will present the Women’s Power Ball Golf Outing. The event, open to golfers of any skill level, will providing networking opportunities for businesswomen of southeastern Wisconsin. The golf outing will be held at Songbird Hills Golf Club, located at W259 N8700 Hwy. 164 in Hartland. Registration begins at 11:45 a.m. with a group clinic following at 12:15 p.m. and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Awards and networking will round out the event. Cost to participate is $45 for Alliance members and $55 for non-members. The fee includes the group clinic, nine holes of golf, a cart, on-course flag events, scoring and the awards ceremony complete with hors d’oeuvres.
