Thursday, May 5 UW-Wisconsin Whitewater will host a grand opening for it’s Innovation Center, a place for start-up companies and entrepreneurs, at University Technology Park, 1221 Innovation Drive. Wisconsin Secretary of Commerce Paul Jadin will join UW-Whitewater and community leaders in recognizing the regional partnerships that helped conceive and construct the building. Southeastern Wisconsin business leaders are invited to attend. Facility tours go from 9 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the grand opening ceremony at 11 a.m. A reception and partner showcase follows. Thursday, May 5 The Waukesha County Business Alliance, Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) and Metropolitan Builders Association (MBA) will hold a State Budget Briefing luncheon with Mike Huebsch, Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Administration. The luncheon will be held at the Brookfield Suites Hotel & Convention Center, 1200 S. Moorland Road in Brookfield from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. The briefing is only for members of the two organizations and costs $40. Attendees will gain an insider’s view of the state budget process, learn how the 2011-2013 budget will impact southeastern Wisconsin businesses, and find out how the state’s funding priorities align with efforts to create jobs and boost economic growth. Members of the three organizations can register at www.waukesha.org or www.mmac.org.

Wednesday, May 4 through Sunday, May 8 UWM Peck School of the Arts will present No, No, Nanette at the Mainstage Theatre. Wednesday through Saturday there will be a 7:30 p.m. show. Additionally, 2p.m. matinees on both Saturday and Sunday will also be produced. No, No, Nanette is an American Musical Comedy presented by the Departments of Dance, Music and Theatre.  Cost to attend is $17 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for students. Tuesday, May 17 the Waukesha County Technical College’s Small Business Center and the Pewaukee Chamber of Commerce will host Gary King, motivational speaker and creator of The Power of Truth, to the Richard T Anderson Center from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The workshop is designed to help help entrepreneurs,  small business owners and business professionals at every stage experience the true power of living and operating from complete personal honesty and integrity. The workshop is “inspirational from the heart, not motivational to the head.” Cost to attend is $25, or $20 for Pewaukee Chamber members. Light refreshments will be served. Wednesday, May 18 Women’s FOCUS will hold a business luncheon with speaker Patti Genko, owner of Patti Genko Communications, LLC at Ozaukee Country Club, 10823 N. River Road., Mequon beginning at 11:30 a.m. After serving as a broadcast professional for 25 years, Genko founded her company after seeing a need for message on hold services for businesses.  The business has expanded over the years to incorporate many aspects of communications.  Genko continues to use her talents in radio broadcasting and speaks to groups on using communications effectively. Cost to attend is $17 per person; reservations can be made by going to www.womensfocus.org.
