Saturday, May 21 Stillwaters Cancer Support Services along with honorary chair Joe Bartolotta will host the first ever Hospital Food Fight at the Tommy G. Thompson Center, 640 S. 84th St., West Allis from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The ‘Iron-Chef-Type” competition will feature head chefs from area hospitals as they compete for the title of Best Hospital Food in Wisconsin. Restaurants, grocers and hospitals will provide food and beverage samples as refreshments. Ted Perry of Fox 6 News will emcee the event. Cost to attend is $35 before May 4. Saturday, May 21 A virtual network of Milwaukee bloggers and food enthusiasts known as #MKEFoodies, will sponsor a bake sale and silent auction to raise money for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer at Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery, 901 W. Juneau Ave., from 1 to 4 p.m. Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is a national nonprofit organization committed to raising funds to support research for new and improved therapies for pediatric cancers. The Cookies for Kids’ Cancer organization was started by Gretchen and Larry Witt to help find a cure for pediatric cancer when their son Liam was diagnosed with stage four cancer at the age of two. Liam lost his battle with cancer in January, 2011 he was almost seven-years-old.

Saturday, May 21 The Salvation Army’s Annual ‘Cans’ Film Festival food drive will take place 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at select Pick ‘n Save locations.  Attendees who bring 10 or more canned goods or non-perishable food items will receive a movie pass compliments of Marcus Theatre’s.  Cans will be collected at the following Pick ‘n Save locations: 1717 N. Mayfair Rd, 7401 W. Good Hope Rd.; and 8770 S. Howell St. Movie passes will be available while supplies last, one pass per household.

Tuesday, May 24 Easter Seals Southeast Wisconsin will host a meet and greet with Abbey Curran, Miss Iowa 2008, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wisconsin Club in Downtown Milwaukee. Curran is the founder of the Miss You Can Do it Pageant for girls ages 4 to 12 with physical disabilities and special needs challenges. Curran will share her inspirational story about being the first contestant with a physical challenge to compete in the national Miss USA Pageant. Thursday, May 26 Care Net Pregnancy Center of Milwaukee will host its Celebrate Life Event featuring keynote speaker Rebecca St. James at the Eastbrook Church, 5385 N. Green Bay Ave., in Milwaukee. The event will include a silent auction, exhibition booths and a meet and greet session with St. James. Premier level tickets, which include a buffet dinner, are available for $20 to $50. Monday, June 6th the Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation will host its 12th Annual Golf Outing at the Silver Springs Country Club in Menomonee Falls. Registration starts at 11 a.m. and dinner starts at 6 p.m., and will be followed by a live auction. Money raised from the outing will go toward spinal cord research. Monday, June 6 Sprecher Brewing Company will host Cheers for Charity golf outing and a seven course Sprecher beer dinner at Camelot Golf Course, W192 Hwy 67 in Lomira. The event will begin at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start, raffles and an award ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. Josh Sitton, and John Kuhn of the Green Bay Packers are scheduled to appear and Tom Pippens of Fox 6 will emcee. All proceeds from the even twill benefit the American Liver Foundation-Wisconsin Office. Cost is $75 per person and includes golf cart, 18 holes, and the seven-course beer dinner. Tuesday, June 14 Wegner CPAs & Consultants will host a nonprofit roundtable on the basic legal issues for nonprofit organizations from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the MRA Conference Center, N19 W24400 Riverwood Drive, Waukesha. Mary Beth Collins, attorney and principal of MBC Legal and Consulting Services, LLC will present a general overview of compliance and legal issues as well as explore individual attendee challenges and questions. In addition to her law practice,  Collins serves as the executive director for a charitable organization that provides community advocates to abused and neglected children.
