    • Thursday, May 31 Ten Milwaukee entrepreneurs will compete with two-minute pitches to investors in hopes of winning a $1,000 prize as part of the kickoff of Startup Wisconsin, the state’s new chapter in the renowned national Startup America Partnership. The event will take place at the Harley-Davidson Museum, Chrome Event Space, 400 W. Canal St., from 6:30 to 7:40 p.m. Scott Case, CEO of the Startup The ten organizations are competing to win $1,000 donated by Michael Best & Friedrich LLP.
    • Friday, June 1 Schlitz Audubon Nature Center will host its ninth annual gala fundraiser, “The Earth Laughs in Flowers” beginning at 6 p.m. at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, 1111 Brown Deer Rd., Bayside. The program will include cocktails, silent auction, live auction and a dinner. Guests may also attend a guided hike of the Center grounds beginning at 5:30p.m. Money raised at the event will support environmental education programs at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. Cost to attend is $200 a person. Dinner will be provided by Lee John’s Catering.     • Wednesday, June 6 The Milwaukee Press Club will host a Behind the Headlines event entitled Up, Down or Sideways? Where are Real Estate Prices Headed?
      The event will be held at We Energies headquarters, 231 West Michigan St. from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Lunch is included. Experts including: Dan Cira, vice president and manager of default servicing for retail lending at BMO Harris Bank NA, Judy Hearst, vice president of Wisconsin Southeast region of Coldwell Banker, Mark Eppli, professor of finance and Bell Chair in Real Estate at Marquette University and David Stiff, chief economist and vice president for Quantitative Research at Fiserv Inc., will provide commentary at the event. A panel of Journalists including: Tom Daykin of Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Sean Ryan of The Business Journal and Andrew Weiland managing editor of BizTimes Media will also ask the experts questions. The cost to attend is $20 for MPC members, $25 for non-members, $15 for students. Lunch is included. Seating will be limited.     • Friday, June 8 Silver Spring Neighborhood Center will hold its Annual Alumni Recognition Awards Breakfast at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center, 509 W. Wisconsin Ave. from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Alumni honorees include Former Green Bay Packer Von Mansfield, Phil Knoebel, and Marcia Roundtree.     • Saturday, June 16 Glendale will host the third annual Wisconsin Beer Lovers Festival, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Bayshore Town Center. The festival is hosted by the City of Glendale, in partnership with the Wisconsin Brewer’s Guild and Draft Magazine, and is the premier all-Wisconsin craft beer and tasting festival, featuring selections from more than 31 craft breweries throughout the state. Each of the participating breweries will be paired with local chefs to create a unique tasting portion designed to complement a variety of unique beers available for sampling.
      Tickets and festival travel packages are available at www.WisconsinBeerLoversFest.com starting at $40. Tickets include admission, a souvenir beer glass and unlimited sampling of beers and food pairings. Patrons must be 21 years of age or older to attend the event. Photo identification will be required at the admission entrance. Designated drivers and patrons under 21 years of age can purchase a “Food Lovers Ticket” for $20.
