Milwaukee-based Royal Capital Group is embarking on the redevelopment of the former Phillis Wheatley Elementary School in Milwaukee.

Royal Capital announced in mid-April it had purchased the former school at 2442 N. 20th St. The redevelopment plan includes the adaptive reuse of the school building and construction of a new, four-unit building on the same site.

The project will provide a total of 82 dwelling units, amenities and educational, wellness and entrepreneurial programming and support for residents and neighbors. Construction is scheduled to begin this month and is slated for completion in spring 2022.

Size: 140,880 square feet

Cost: $22 million
