BloodCenter gives away State Fair tickets to donors

Individuals who take time to donate blood to the BloodCenter of Wisconsin will receive free admission to the 2013 Wisconsin State Fair as a thank you for their donation.

BloodCenter will give away tickets to individuals who donate on Wednesdays now through Aug. 7 until tickets have been exhausted. Tickets guarantee complimentary admission to the fair any day and any time.

According to BloodCenter, the need for blood donations tends to rise in the summer as many regular donors are busy traveling and fewer public blood drives are organized.

BloodCenter encourages individuals of any blood type to donate, but the Milwaukee-based nonprofit organization has a critical need for O negative donations and platelet donations.

The BloodCenter’s participating donation sites are located at:

*5960 W. Brown Deer Rd. in Brown Deer
*7210 W. Edgerton Ave. in Greenfield
*8064 39th Ave. in Kenosha
*638 N. 18th St. in Milwaukee
*1120 S. Sunnyslope Rd. in Racine
*1018 S. Taylor Dr. in Sheboygan
*2111 Springdale Rd. in Waukesha
*8733 Watertown Plank Rd. in Wauwatosa
*130 Valley Ave. in West Bend

Donors must be at least 17 years old or 16 years old with parental consent. Donors must meet general health criteria and need to bring a photo ID with them to their donation appointment.

To schedule a time to donate, visit www.bcw.edu or call 1-877-232-4376.
