BizTimes Morning Headlines: Audit says state owes $23 million in Medicaid funds

A federal audit to be released today alleges that the state Department of Health Services failed to adequately document nearly $23 million charged to the federal Medicaid program for mental health services for young people.

Auditors are recommending that the federal government seek reimbursement for the full $22.8 million in potential overcharges for services at 27 residential care centers (RCCs), which are private, nongovernmental entities that provide custodial care and treatment to clients ages 21 and under.
