Northern Trust Corp., Chicago, promoted James Kuehn to president and chief executive officer of Northern Trust – Wisconsin. Kuehn will succeed James Rauh, the previous chairman of Northern Trust – Wisconsin. Rauh was promoted in January to director of Northern Trust Bank, FSB and president of its Midwestern States Region. Kuehn joined Northern Trust in 1999 and previously served as chair of the investment policy committee for M&I Investment Management Corp., Milwaukee. Kuehn holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Marquette University.
AXA Advisors LLC
The Milwaukee office of AXA Advisors LLC, New York, awarded $20,000 in scholarships to Wisconsin students as part of the annual AXA Achiever Awards. Tyler Sanchez, a senior at The Prairie School, Racine, received the $10,000 grand prize scholarship. Sanchez founded the Notes for Hope program to raise funds and awareness for the United Way of Racine County and the American Kidney Fund. He recorded and sold 1,000 CDs of his piano music and donated all of the proceeds to the charities. Sanchez is eligible for the AXA Foundation national awards and if selected, he could receive an additional $15,000, a computer and the offer for an internship with the financial organization. Other individual winners received $2,000 scholarships and included: Brittany Bice, Badger High School, Lake Geneva; Kinsey Bodenburg, Elk Mound High School, Elk Mound; Alex Gloudemens, Little Chute High School, Kaukauna; Joseph Raguse, Union Grove High School, Kansasville, and Paul Williams, New London High School, New London. The award winners were selected by the AXA Foundation and judged on goal setting ability, ambition, determination and respect for self, family and community.

The Wisconsin Concrete Masonry Association (WCMA), Milwaukee, recognized local companies with the Excellence in Masonry awards. The 18th annual WCMA Excellence in Masonry competition honors creative and innovative concrete masonry building designs in Wisconsin. Entries were judged on creativity, design excellence and concrete masonry’s relationship to the overall structure. Bray Associates Architects, Sheboygan, received the Maynard W. Meyer Best of Show award for the Shepherd of the Hills Church, Eden. Sheboygan-based Community Bank & Trust has appointed Joseph Schaefer as vice president of commercial lending at the company’s Glendale office.
Schaefer is a graduate of Connecticut College with a degree in international relations/economics. He has more than 12 years of financial experience, having previously held positions with Wells Fargo, LaSalle Bank and Associated Bank.

Plunkett Raysich hires new COO
Plunkett Raysich Architects LLP has named Thomas Koch as chief operations officer. Koch, a certified public accountant, most recently worked for Monster Worldwide Inc. as director of business analysis in Milwaukee.

First Business Bank names Wallen to board
First Business Bank-Milwaukee announced the election of Timothy Wallen to its board of directors. Wallen is principal and chief executive officer of NAI MLG Commercial. First Business Bank–Milwaukee is part of First Business Financial Services Inc., which also includes First Business Bank–Madison, First Business Trust & Investments, First Business Leasing and First Business Capital Corp.

Wallen joined NAI MLG Commercial in 1989 as chief financial officer and was promoted to CEO in 2000. In 1989, he transferred to the company’s Milwaukee office, where he was promoted to the position of manager. Wallen is a certified public accountant.
Waukesha printer will buy new press
J.B. Kenehan LLC of Waukesha received an industrial revenue bond allocation of $3.4 million from the state for a business expansion that will create 36 new jobs.
The commercial printing company will use the funding to help it purchase a new web press for $4.7 million.
“The industrial revenue bond program has saved
our company tens of thousands of dollars while allowing us to purchase state-of-the-art equipment,” said Jay Kenehan, president of J.B. Kenehan. “We have gone from less than 20 employees in 2000 to nearly 100 today. We thank Gov. (Jim) Doyle and the Department of Commerce for working with us and helping ensure the process from application to allocation went smoothly.”
The industrial revenue bond program works in partnership with communities to strengthen their manufacturing base and promote and retain job creation and investment. The bonds are free of federal tax and are issued by local governments, and the proceeds are loaned to new or expanding businesses for development projects. North Shore Bank to build new branch in Sussex
North Shore Bank announced it will build a new full-service branch in the Village of Sussex at W249 N6600 Highway 164.
The 3,900-square-foot office will feature two drive-up lanes, safe deposit boxes, a drive-up ATM and commercial night depository. The new branch design also will incorporate new technological features, including biometrics, high-speed Internet access and electronic displays.
“Sussex is a growing community that continues to attract new businesses and residents, and now our customers in Sussex will have a convenient location at which to do their banking. This new office will allow us to better meet the needs of our customers in this thriving area,” said Steve Steiner, senior vice president of retail banking for Brookfield-based North Shore Bank.
MSI General Corp. of Oconomowoc will design and build the new branch, which is expected to open in October.
North Shore Bank has assets of $1.9 billion and 43 offices throughout eastern Wisconsin.
Another new store will open in Third Ward
Juju Gifts, Accessories & Decor, a new home
decoration and gift store, will open in Milwaukee’s Third Ward in July.
Co-owners Wendy Pawlyshyn and Nicole Nikolic will open the store at 222 Erie St. The store will sell small gift items, jewelry, purses and accessories, Pawlyshyn said. The store also will sell small home decor items, she said.
The low-key store will be an affordably priced boutique, with a range of items not commonly available in the Milwaukee area, Pawlyshyn said.
“We’re there to be helpful,” she said. “We want to give customers breathing space to be inspired and make choices.”
