Berghammer Construction
Berghammer Construction Corp., Butler, recently completed the first phase of the St. Mary’s Felician Village campus renovation and repositioning project in Manitowoc. The campus, which offers assisted and independent living options, skilled nursing and rehabilitation, as well as activities and other amenities for senior citizens, is being updated and reconfigured to enhance the facility’s ability to provide a sense of community and a residential atmosphere for the residents. In partnership with Eppstein Uhen Architects, Milwaukee, the first phase of this project involved the demolition of several existing structures on the 22-acre campus and the building of a new community based residential facility, 20 beds for a dedicated rehabilitation household and the Village Square building. The completion of this phase moved residents living in the existing community based residential facility closer to activities and amenities. The completion also provided a central location with updated facilities for all the services that Felician Village offers. The main objective for this three-phase project is to achieve a more home-like environment for the residents, while at the same time making the operation of this campus more efficient. With the brand new energy efficient buildings, Felician Village expects to substantially drive down their operational costs. Berghammer is currently working on the second phase of the project with a scheduled completion date of August, 2010. The second phase involves the construction of a 64-bed skilled nursing facility and a 16-apartment residential care apartment complex.
