Zoological Society of Milwaukee

The Zoological Society of Milwaukee recently received a marketing award for its Live It, Learn It, Love It campaign. The award, called Excellence in Marketing–Best in Show, was given in May by the Milwaukee chapter of the American Marketing Association. Only one award is given each year. The campaign ran in 2008 and included direct mail, billboards and radio ads to encourage people to join the non-profit Zoological Society. The award recognized the campaign for continuity, marketing integration, and overall performance/results. The campaign was developed with support from DMC Advertising & Direct Marketing in Pewaukee. The Zoological Society and DMC will present the campaign and results at a Milwaukee chapter meeting of the American Marketing Association in August.

The Falk Group, a Milwaukee-based public relations agency, recently received two awards at the annual Paragon Awards hosted by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) – Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter, for PR campaigns developed for two Marcus Hotels & Resorts. In the PRSA Paragon Awards’ “Special Events” category, The Falk Group was recognized for its work on The Pfister Hotel’s “Memories and Moments” gala, an event held to raise awareness of the hotel’s multi-million dollar renovation and celebrate hundreds of the public’s memories of the hotel over the years. The Falk Group also picked up an award in the “Grassroots Marketing” category for its “Miller Time Pub Unplugged” campaign, a seven-week music competition hosted at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center’s Miller Time Pub. The series involved local artists competing for cash prizes.

Zilber Family Foundation

The Zilber Family foundation recently announced its donation to the United Community Center in support of its alcohol and other drug abuse treatment program operations. This support will benefit individuals looking to overcome substance abuse problems and other mental health issues. The grant will be used to fund bilingual services for almost 2,500 individuals each year, including residential treatment for men and women, day treatment, outpatient treatment, and recovery support, all aimed at restoring sobriety and independence to men and women dealing with drug and/or alcohol dependency. With 60 percent of the clients homeless and 95 percent holding no insurance, grant monies will fill funding gaps to ensure these services continue.

Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin

Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Breast Center has been accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. Just 10 breast care programs in Wisconsin have received this accreditation. A voluntary, demonstrated commitment to provide the highest level of quality breast care is required for accreditation. Froedtert & The Medical College Breast Center excelled in a rigorous evaluation process, which was based on performance standards set by the NAPBC for treating patients diagnosed with breast disease. These standards include proficiency in the areas of center leadership, clinical care, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement. According to the NAPBC, receiving care at an accredited breast care center ensures that a patient will have access to comprehensive care, including a full range of state-of-the-art services; a multidisciplinary team approach to coordinate the best treatment options; information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options; and quality breast care close to home.
