GPS Education Partners

GPS Education Partners held an annual benefit on Sept. 10 at the Milwaukee School of Engineering to honor eight individuals and organizations that have played a key role in advancing its mission in youth and community investment. The Butler-based nonprofit organization aims to prepare students for continued education and meaningful careers through hands-on learning in the manufacturing environment. The award winners were:

  • Jeff Clark, president/chief executive officer of Sussex-based Waukesha Metal Products, who won the Recognition of Innovation Award, which is presented to an exceptional leader whose creativity and ingenuity efforts inspire GPS students to reach their full potential.
  • Lakeside Manufacturing Inc. in West Milwaukee, Strattec Security Corp. in Glendale and Capitol Stampings Corp. in Milwaukee were presented with the Trailblazer of Community Impact Award, which recognizes businesses for their innovative thinking and bold willingness to support the rigorous and relevant efforts of GPS.
  • Gloria Stearns, the executive director of the Milwaukee-based 30th Street Industrial Corridor Corp., and Linda Kiedrowski, the chief executive officer and owner of Wauwatosa-based The Paranet Group, were awarded the Community Ambassador Award, which honors leaders that have demonstrated initiative, enthusiasm and spirit on behalf of GPS while inspiring others to get involved.
  • Mike Erwin, chief executive officer of Menomonee Falls-based Tailored Label Products Inc., and Mary Steinbrecher, executive director of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce’s Council of Small Business Executives, were the recipients of the Champion of Community Leadership Award. It honors individuals who exemplify community leadership by serving and influencing others for the greater good and committing to initiatives that have a far-reaching, lasting impact.

FASTSIGNS of Milwaukee-Glendale

Two outside sales professionals from FASTSIGNS of Milwaukee-Glendale were honored for outstanding sales achievements during the 2014 FASTSIGNS Outside Sales Summit, hosted by franchisor FASTSIGNS International last month in Frisco, Texas. Mark Van Ermen received the National Sales Achievement Award, the top award presented at the summit. The award salutes the salesperson who has achieved the highest total sales in the company’s network from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014. Van Ermen also earned the Platinum Sales Award, which is given to outside sales professionals who reached a sales total of more than $900,000 during the award year. Ten outside sales professionals among the company’s more than 550 centers around the world qualified for the award. Additionally, Stephanie Pike, of FASTSIGNS of Milwaukee-Glendale, was recognized with the Bronze Sales Award. The honor highlights outside sales professionals whose sales totaled between $200,000 and $399,000 from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. FASTSIGNS of Milwaukee-Glendale is an independently owned and operated sign, graphics and visual communications company.

Wisconsin Association of Staffing Services

The Wisconsin Association of Staffing Services, based in Shorewood, has earned a Chapter Achievement Award from the American Staffing Association for exceptional programming and chapter efforts conducted this year. The ASA will honor the WASS next month in Washington, D.C. during Staffing World 2014, the ASA’s annual convention and expo. ASA selected winning state associations based on factors such as chapter meetings, special events, educational seminars, government relations activities and community outreach efforts. WASS defines itself as a “legislative watchdog for the staffing industry” in Wisconsin and a resource for staffing and recruiting companies and professionals.

Metal-Era

Waukesha-based Metal-Era Inc. has established a relationship with Roofing Resources Inc., a Denver, Colo.-based roof and masonry consulting firm. Roofing Resources will represent Metal-Era in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico. The two entities will advise roofing contractors, distributors, specifiers and building owners in the region as they select appropriate Metal-Era ANSI/SPRI ES-1 and FM rated edge metal and airflow solutions for their needs.
