Bavarian Bierhaus planning to hire 200

Craft brewery and beer hall to be located in former Bavarian Inn

The Bavarian Bierhaus is planning to hire 200 people for its new craft brewery and beer hall that will be located in the former Bavarian Inn in Glendale.

The 15-barrel brew house will open April 26 at 700 W. Lexington Blvd. The Bavarian Bierhaus will feature a brewery, beer hall, dining, tap room, banquet hall and outdoor Heidelberg Park.

The facility is owned by Brauhaus Milwaukee LLC. Brew master Nate Bahr, who previously worked at Lakefront Brewery, anticipates the bierhaus will make more than 2,000 barrels of beer in a year with a specialty in lager-style beer.

“We have the freedom to experiment with other styles as well since we are not a franchise,” Bahr said.

The 15-acre Bavarian Inn property includes the former 21,000-square-foot Bavarian Inn restaurant and banquet facility, three soccer fields and the Heidelberg Park festival grounds where Oktoberfest festivities are held each year during the four weekends following Labor Day.

The Bavarian Soccer Club purchased the property four and a half years ago, but the restaurant was never reopened. The site will remain the home of the soccer club.

The Glendale Plan Commission approved the Bavarian Bierhaus project in fall 2015.
