Barrett, Kleefisch to attend Innovations & Wellness Commons groundbreaking

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch are scheduled to take part in a groundbreaking for the new Innovations & Wellness Commons on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at 1609 W. North Ave.

The Innovation & Wellness Commons is a redevelopment project in the Lindsay Heights neighborhood that will serve as a hub for economic development, healthy food options, wellness services and training programs for residents in Milwaukee’s central city.

At the ceremony, Kleefisch will also announce a state grant to help fund the initiative, and organizers will provide new details and a timetable for construction. The project is being developed by the Walnut Way Conservation Corp., a Milwaukee-based nonprofit neighborhood organization.
