Barack Obama affirms my pride

Regarding the election of Barack Obama as the next president of the United States, pride is the first thought that comes to mind.

For years, I’ve supported family and friends and cheered on my favorite team.

This is the first time I’ve this actively engaged for a presidential candidate. I canvassed and knocked on doors. I had deep discussions with my 9-year-old and 13-year-old daughters, informing them how important this is.

All I ask of a presidential candidate is the truth – don’t B.S. me; be in touch with common Americans; and give me a sense of hope.

President-elect Barack Obama has delivered on all three.
