Bank takes back historic downtown office building

Wauwatosa-based The Equitable Bank has acquired the 117-year-old Germania Building in downtown Milwaukee, according to state records.

The eight-story, 117,752-square-foot building is located at 135 W. Wells St.

The bank took the building back from Germania Group LLC, an investors group that includes Sonny Bando, former Green Bay Packer Mark Chmura and his brother Matt Chmura. The value of the transaction was set at $3.5 million, according to state records filed Tuesday.
