Baker Tilly subsidiary sells Nature’s Protein Inc.

The Milwaukee office of Baker Tilly Capital, LLC, a mergers and acquisitions advisory firm and subsidiary of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP, has completed the sale of Milwaukee-based Nature’s Protein Inc. to J. Strickland Company of Olive Branch, Miss.

J. Strickland will consolidate the operations of Nature’s Protein into its state-of-the-art facility in Mississippi. The company will close its Milwaukee operations at 7720 N. 81st St., eliminating seven jobs in Wisconsin.
Nature’s Protein has been a leading provider of quality health and beauty care products since 1997. The company’s product line includes more than 20 items, consisting of hair shampoos, conditioners and a full line of maintenance and style products.
J. Strickland Company has been manufacturing ethnic hair care, skin care, and cosmetics since 1936 and boasts the most complete line sold worldwide.
With the acquisition of Nature’s Protein, Inc., J. Strickland will expand its product line, which currently includes some of the most recognizable brands in the industry, such as Blue Magic, Sulfur 8, Royal Crown, and Worlds of Curls.
“J. Strickland is committed to continuing to provide consumers of Nature’s Protein products with the same great quality they have received for years,” said James McKelroy, executive vice president of J. Strickland.
“These are two well-known and respected companies in this product category; it’s exciting to bring these brands together under one roof,” said Corey Vanderpoel, director at Baker Tilly Capital.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
