Assisted Living facility planned for key Shorewood site

McLean, Va.-based Sunrise Senior Living Inc. plans to build a four-story, 83-unit assisted living facility at 1111 E. Capitol Drive. The three-acre site along the Milwaukee River was identified by village officials as one of their priority development sites. Construction of the $15 million development is expected to begin by early summer of 2008 and be completed by the fall of 2009. The facility will provide 24-hour care for frail, elderly residents with an average age of 83 who require assistance with daily living tasks, but do not have intense medical needs that require skilled nursing care. The proposed development includes plans to convey the unused portion of the property to the village for future development and it provides public access to the river.
