Artisan forms high income fund

Artisan Partners has launched a new fund, called the Artisan High Income Fund.

The fund will be managed by portfolio manager Bryan Krug, who heads the Artisan Partners Credit group.

“The High Income Fund is structured in a way that will let us take advantage of what we believe are the best opportunities in the non-investment grade credit market,” Krug said. “We believe our repeatable, high conviction investment process will allow us to achieve attractive risk-adjusted returns over a full credit cycle.”

Krug was hired by Artisan in December to start the firm’s sixth investment team. He has 14 years of investment experience and has spent seven years managing portfolios with a high-yield strategy.

“We are excited for Bryan and his team to begin managing Artisan High Income Fund,” said Eric Colson, chief executive officer. “It fits well within our business model of offering high value-added investment products with institutional viability. We have designed the fund to allow Bryan and his team the investment freedom to distinguish this product with their fundamental research and disciplined investment process.”

Artisan recently closed its Global Value Fund, and is in the midst of a public offering of 7 million shares of stock.
