Artisan food producers form new organization

The Wisconsin Artisan Food Producers Association (WAFPA) is a new business organization that has been established by eight Milwaukee-area food and beverage companies with the mission of promoting, advocating for and supporting artisan food and beverage producers throughout Wisconsin.

The WAFPA’s founding members include: Bolzano Artisan Meats; Clock Shadow Creamery; Great Lakes Distillery; Indulgence Chocolatiers; Lakefront Brewery; Purple Door Ice Cream; Stone Creek Coffee; and Wild Flour Bakery.
According to WAFPA’s president, Brian Waterman, “These founding members represent diverse products and different stages of business development, but all demonstrate the quality and integrity that defines what it means to be an artisan producer.”
WAFPA board member Kristin Paltzer said, “Wisconsin’s artisan food and beverage producers are an important part of our state’s distinctive character. They offer unique culinary experiences to those here in Wisconsin and proudly represent the state to those beyond its borders. WAFPA has been created to support these important businesses.”
WAFPA board member Scott Buer said, “Through regular member meetings, workshops and newsletters, WAFPA will serve as an information clearinghouse on matters such as best business practices, legal compliance, supplier and vendor sources, business development, etc. The organization will also work to connect specialty food and beverage retailers and restaurants with member producers.”
