Application numbers rise for CUW’s school of pharmacy

The new Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) School of Pharmacy has so far received 372 applications from 34 states and Canada.

“The interview process for select applicants has begun and we are very encouraged by the quality of the applicants,” said Lesley Luehrs, director of student affairs for the School of Pharmacy. “Students seeking a smaller school atmosphere with the added benefits of being located in a large metropolitan area indicate Concordia as a first choice.”

With the first graduating class to start in the fall of 2010, the deadline for applying to the school is March 1, 2010. Of all applications submitted so far, 97 of them are from the state of Wisconsin, with an additional 80 from neighboring Midwestern states.

The first round of acceptance letters are going out this month and applications are being processed on a rolling basis, Luehrs said. The selection process will continue until all 65 seats are filled. The school hopes to increase the number of seats in the program for the 2011 academic year once their own building is completed. The School of Pharmacy building will be constructed on CUW’s Mequon campus beginning next year and is expected to be completed by the time classes start in the fall of 2011.
