Applebee’s to close Mayfair restaurant

The Applebee’s restaurant at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa will close, according to commercial real estate sources

“Applebee’s had its lease coming up,” said Ross Koepsel, a partner with Commercial Property Associates. “They were not able to renew a new deal. They are going to be leaving that mall.”

Koepsel said he has not heard what will replace Applebee’s.

But another commercial real estate source said Old Town Pour House, a Chicago bar and restaurant, operated by Bottleneck Management, is expected to replace the Applebee’s at Mayfair. The owner of the mall, General Growth Properties, wants to replace Applebee’s with a more upscale bar and restaurant concept, that source said.

Mayfair Mall general manager Steve Smith could not be reached for comment.
