Alpine Insulation acquired by Ohio firm

Installed Building Products declines to reveal integration plans

Sheboygan-based Alpine Insulation Co. Inc. has been acquired by Columbus, Ohio-based Installed Building Products Inc. The price of the acquisition, which closed Monday, was not disclosed.

Alpine Insulation, which has about 130 employees, has operating locations in Sheboygan, Menomonee Falls, Appleton, DeForest and Weston.  It offers residential and commercial installation of insulation, drywall, flooring, painting, steel stud framing and ceilings. The company had about $23.9 million in 2015 sales.

Installed Building Products installs insulation and other building products in residential new construction projects. Among its specialties are garage doors, rain gutters, shower doors, closet shelving and mirrors. It has a national branch network, and says it is the second-largest insulation installer in the country. It has 4,500 employees.

An Installed Building Products spokesperson said the company doesn’t comment on future plans for the organizations it acquires. It is unclear whether Alpine’s employment or locations will be changed, but the spokesperson said the strategy is usually to leave business operations in place.

“We are pleased to announce our fourth acquisition of the year with trailing 12 month sales at Dec. 31, 2015, of approximately $23.9 million,” said Jeff Edwards, chairman and chief executive officer of Installed Building Products. “Alpine represents a compelling opportunity for us to enhance our presence in Wisconsin through a complementary business with strong local brands, exceptional customer loyalty and a strong management team. This acquisition brings our total acquired revenue in 2016 to approximately $44 million, as we remain focused on selectively acquiring market-leading installers in highly attractive markets.”
