Adelman Travel acquires Dallas agency

Milwaukee-based Adelman Travel, a travel agency focused on corporate trips, has acquired Dallas, Texas-based Plaza Travel Inc.

Plaza, which was founded in 1980 and has sales of more than $20 million, is a full-service travel agency specializing in VIP corporate travel services, meetings and incentives, and vacation travel. It has about 17 employees who will continue to work for Adelman out of its existing office, and its name will be changed to Adelman Travel.

Adelman, which has about 300 employees, 13 locations and more than $600 million in annual revenue, will expand its offerings with personalized VIP services and extend into new markets with the acquisition. Plaza will have access to additional automation tools and other resources.

“Plaza Travel is a great fit for us because of their high commitment to customer service in corporate travel, meetings and vacation travel,” said Bob Chaiken, chief executive officer of Adelman Travel. “Our growth plans include strategies in each of these areas, and our success can be attributed to the skill and professionalism of our staff, which is by far the most significant ingredient of a successful travel company.”

“Plaza Travel’s success is based on establishing long-term relationships with both our customers and employees,” said Mark McCool, founder of Plaza Travel. “Our past success, combined with the national and international resources of Adelman Travel, will make this an excellent opportunity for everyone involved. We will continue to provide our clients with the same personalized service utilizing the same personnel and continue with our local responsiveness from our North Dallas operation. By joining Adelman Travel, we will have more to offer business and vacation travelers than ever.”
