Adelman acquires Calif. travel agency

Glendale-based Adelman Travel Group has acquired Fresno, Calif.-based Chamber Discoveries, a travel agency that targets chambers of commerce in the U.S.

Chamber’s trips are customized international private tours that include industry workshops, forums and business focused activities. The acquisition will enable Adelman to broaden its leisure travel services.

“There are definite synergies between Adelman Vacations and Chamber Discoveries,” said Bob Chaiken, chief executive officer of Adelman Travel. “We have travel consultants in our Adelman Vacations offices in the Midwest who are creating high-end international group tours and customized packages for individuals. These two divisions can support each other while allowing us to grow both businesses.”

Adelman has 300 employees in more than 35 locations nationwide and about $600 million in annual revenue. The company targets corporate travel management, global consolidations, vacation travel, meeting and incentive planning and rewards travel.

Chamber has eight employees.

“At Chamber Discoveries we have always prided ourselves on our expertise and our ability to provide unique travel programs to chambers of commerce members,” said Craig Howard, president and chief executive officer of Chamber Discoveries. “Adding the strength and reputation of Adelman Travel to our experience in this market will allow us to develop and significantly expand the services we can offer.”

The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
