The assets of Milwaukee-based Acme Galvanizing Inc. have been acquired by AZZ Inc., a Fort Worth, Texas-based provider of metal coating and welding solutions, specialty electrical equipment and highly engineered services. Acme Galvanizing is a privately-held hot-dip galvanizing and zinc electroplating company with an 80,000-square-foot facility at 2730 S. 19th St. The company was founded in 1919. AZZ, a publicly-traded company, has around $1 billion in annual sales, including nearly $500 million from its metal coatings segment. The company said it plans to operate the Acme plant as AZZ Galvanizing and Plating – Milwaukee going forward, integrating it into its existing network of 40 hot-dip galvanizing sites in North America. None of the existing sites are in Wisconsin, although three are located in Illinois and two are in Minnesota. "We are pleased with the synergistic acquisition of Acme, as we continue to execute our strategic plan to drive profitable growth and strengthen our overall Metal Coatings business,” said Bryan Stovall, president and COO of AZZ Metal Coatings. "With the acquisition of Acme, AZZ enhances its scope of metal coating services in the Midwest with the addition of four advanced fully automated zinc plating lines and a totally enclosed galvanizing kettle. We welcome Acme's employees and customers to AZZ and look forward to a seamless integration with uninterrupted customer service."
