Abele vetoes development requirements for Innovation Park hotel

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele announced Tuesday that he is vetoing a County Board resolution that placed wage and sick day requirements on a proposed extended stay hotel development at the Innovation Park project in Wauwatosa.

The developer for the hotel has said those requirements would kill the project.

Abele said the wage and sick pay requirements that the County Board added for the project are “illegal and unprecedented.”

“I am vetoing this resolution with the hope the (County) Board will realize this project moving forward is in the best interest of our community,” Abele said. “I urge the board to sustain this veto and pass the original (hotel development deal) resolution to get this project back on track.”
