Milwaukee County executive candidate Chris Abele used his personal wealth to give himself a big financial lead in the race to succeed Scott Walker.
Abele, a philanthropist, gave his campaign $250,000, and had $264,913 in receipts on his campaign finance report filed early this week. Abele reported $377 spent, and he had $264,536 cash on hand. The report covers campaign financial activity through Dec. 31.
GOP state Rep. Jeff Stone reported $54,001 in contributions, $6,170 in expenses and $47,832 cash on hand. His fundraising total includes a $50,841 transfer from his Assembly campaign account.
Acting County Exec Lee Holloway reported no contributions on the report. He listed $384 in expenses and $8,831 in the bank.
The campaign of former state Sen. Jim Sullivan, D-Wauwatosa, said he didn’t have to file a report because he only got into the race four days before year’s end. He reported $4,160 remaining in his state campaign account that he can use for the county exec race.
Public Policy Forum will stage a candidate forum from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee.
