A.O. Smith names Martineau CIO

Will lead new business and tech solutions organization

Peter Martineau was named A.O. Smith’s chief information officer on Friday.

Milwaukee-based A.O. Smith Corp. has appointed Peter Martineau senior vice present and chief information officer, the company announced Friday.

Martineau will be responsible for the company’s global business systems and will lead a newly created business and technology solutions organization. The organization is tasked with working with each of the company’s business units to identify and deploy information technology solutions that help achieve A.O. Smith’s strategic objectives.

“Peter brings wide-ranging knowledge of our business, processes, markets and customers to this critical new role and is uniquely qualified to lead us through this transformation,” said Ajita Rajendra, A.O. Smith chairman and chief executive officer.

Martineau joined A.O. Smith as part of the company’s acquisition of GSW/American Water Heaters in 2006. He has served as vice president for business transportation since January 2013, leading a major company-wide enterprise resource planning system implementation. He has also held positions as director of finance and vice president-customer service for the company’s North American water heater operations.

Martineau replaces Randall Bednar, who retired after serving for 15 years as chief information officer.

He previously was managing editor at The Waukesha Freeman. He is a graduate of Carroll University and did graduate coursework at Marquette. A native of southeastern Wisconsin, he is also a nationally certified gymnastics judge and enjoys golf on the weekends.
